A Little Known Cold and Flu Remedy
In 1928 Richard Simmons M.D. Hypothesised that the virus enters the body through the ear canal. German researchers had great success using hydrogen peroxide for the treatmentof colds and flus in 1938. They found that once the germ enters the inner ear they start multipling and spread to the rest of the body. It’s a good ” rule of thumb” to keep your fingers out of your ears to reduce the odds of exposure. Unfortunately the virus is airborne and can still enter the ear. The treatment entails using a dropper to put a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into the top ear with the head tilted to one side. After two or three minutes drain the ear with a tissue, and repeat on the other side. This should be done as soon aspossible when symptoms arise and will be effective 80% of the time. It’s normal for the hydrogen peroxide to bubbleand sometime cause some mild stinging. The 3% hydrogen peroxide solution is readily available at most drugstoresand is perfectly safe for infants and children.
Water: Choosing the right water
Chlorine in your drinking water can make you sick. Studies show that women who were exposed to chlorinated water had a 48% increased risk of bladder cancer, 38% increased risk of rectal cancer, 90% increased risk of esophageal cancer and an 11% risk of breast cancer. Men were less affected than women. Research in Japan revealed that drinking chlorinated water with otherwise healthy vegetables, formed deadly caner causing substances. Once eliminated from the body these poisons get into the water supply. Many filtration systems take out the chlorine and other contaminates and even boiling water for several minutes causes the chlorine to evaporate. Reverse osmosis systems and distilling water removes chlorine and other contaminants. It is recommended to add 2 to 4 grains of basmati rice and a pinch of unrefined salt per gallon to replenish the lost minerals. Distilled water is a good detoxifier, but should not be used more than 10 days at a time because it removes minerals as well as toxins out of the body. When exposed to air, distilled water absorbs carbon dioxide causing unhealthy activity. Another way to greatly reduce chlorine in water is to use vitamin C. One grain of vitamin C will neutralize 100 gallons of water. This is great for bathing without the irritating effects of chlorine on the skin and in your lungs. Please try to stay away from water and other beverages contained in plastic (unless it is “BPA free”). Toxic chemicals that seep from plastic bottles are stored in fat cells and connective tissues and lead to weight gain and cellulite in women. Plastic contains the estrogen-like compound, “BPA” that is damaging to the productive organs. In women it can cause fibroids, endometriosis, cystic ovaries and cancers including breast cancer. In men it is linked to early stage prostate cancer, decreased sperm counts and erectile dysfunction. There are many companies that offer wonderful water treating solutions. The Most Important Nutrient
The human body is 75% water and an estimated 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Water provides necessary nourishment, flushes out toxins and waste materials, and is needed in all cellular functions.
Even though coffee, tea, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, sports drinks and juices contain water they have a dehydrating effect. For example, for every cup of coffee or tea that is consumed, 2 to 3 cups of water is needed to rehydrate. Drugs also have a dehydrating effect that improves the body’s ability to eliminate waste materials and toxins.
Chronic dehydration causes or contributes to heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach ulcers, obesity, cancer, MS, Alzheimer’s and many other diseases. Infectious bacteria and viruses cannot thrive in a well hydrated system. Dehydration impedes all cellular activity and waste product removal. The body reacts to this “drought” by hoarding water and often causing bloating in the legs, feet, arms and face. Kidneys react by retaining water and salt that can result in kidney damage. Another side effect is pain, like lower back pain, headaches, arthritis, dyspepsia, neuralgia and fibromyalgia. Research shows that drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day can greatly reduce joint and back pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
The human brain consists of 85% water and dehydration reduces the brain’s energy supply and cellular activity to be diminished resulting in depression, low energy, and feeling stressed. A mere 2% drop in hydration can trigger fuzzy headedness, short term memory loss, trouble doing math, and difficulty focusing on a computer screen or a printed page. A mere 2% drop in hydration can trigger fuzzy headedness, short term memory loss, trouble doing math and difficulty focusing on a computer screen or a printed page.
Not drinking enough water is the main cause of daytime fatigue and it slows down the metabolism. In over 1/3 of Americans, their thirst mechanism is so weakened that it is mistaken for hunger, contributing to weight gain. Researchers at the University of Washington found that drinking a glass of water at bed time eliminated midnight hunger for almost 100% of dieters.
Drinking at least 5 glasses of water daily has been shown to decrease the risk of colon cancer by 45%, breast cancer by 79%, and bladder cancer by 50%.
